Find Out About A Holiday You’re Unfamiliar With

As our traditional “holiday season” approaches, take some time to learn about holidays other than Thanksgiving and Christmas. Much of our society and our workplace holidays revolve around Christian holidays and federal observances. There are many that we are either never exposed to or never take the initiative to learn more about. In the next week, take 30 minutes to do some searching.

Look into various religions and cultures. Investigate the origins and practices associated with a holiday you’re unfamiliar with, and how and where it’s typically recognized. Maybe even consider having a friend, colleague, or your team do the same thing. Set aside some time to share what you find. With your newly acquired knowledge, think of one way you can expand the dialogue about holidays among your family, friends, or coworkers.
