Set A DEIB Goal For Yourself For 2022

Dedicate one hour to clearly articulate a goal for yourself to move forward on your DEIB journey. What could that goal look like?

It could be about gaining knowledge about experiences of others who identify differently than you – and creating your own reading or viewing list for the year to help you do that. Maybe you make that an activity to share among your colleagues (at work or in professional organizations you’re a part of), family, or friends.

It could be to join an Employee Resource Group (ERG) at work and align yourself to help them achieve one of their goals for the year.

It could be to commit to doing every ‘Start Where You Are’ challenge in 2022 and inviting a friend or two to join you to share the experience.

Think about what objective you want to achieve. Think about how you can move your organization closer to embedding and living the values of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Ask yourself this powerful question I picked up from DEIB Champion and author Rhodes Perry: How can you use whatever relative privilege/advantages you have to transfer resources, money, attention and influence to projects that support the collective leadership of underrepresented people and groups of people in your organization?

Examine where you are and visualize where you could be a year from now. The world needs YOU to take action.
